ABOUT ROCHELLE
E-RYT200, E-RYT500
From a young age Rochelle has sought to answer why we seem to live in an over abundance of physical and mental pain. She began practicing yoga at the age of fifteen and through her adolescent years studied various religious paths from Christianity to Tibetan Buddhism trying to find the answer to society's pain.
"As a child people would ask me what I want to be when I grew up... happy', I'd say. They thought I did not understand the question, but even as a child it made very little sense that I could 'be' a career"
Over the course of the next two decades Rochelle found that she was in fact in error, happiness was not the word she would use now, having gained the understanding to the answers she sought, she also realized that it was contentment she was seeking.
Rochelle has dedicated her life to her family of six (Partner and four children), and to her study of Yoga Therapy, Philosophy and Art. She has been instructing group yoga asana (Hatha) classes since 2002 and completed a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Moonyeen Park (Post Falls Idaho) in 2007. She grew up in Spokane Washington and taught seniors yoga classes for the Community Colleges of Spokane and developed therapeutic programing at the YMCA of the Inland Northwest aquatics department.
Rochelle and her family relocated to Kansas in 2013 she spent many years studying, teaching, painting and raising her young children. As the children began entering grade school Rochelle began seeking schooling of her own and started an IAYT Accredited Yoga Therapy Program In Parkville Missouri in 2018.
"Yoga Therapy is truly life changing" Rochelle said " by partnering with individuals and really growing a friendship based on honesty, respect and trust...it creates a really nurturing environment to help the client get to the root of what has them feeling the way they do... I help my clients by meeting their need for, perhaps movement or encouragement, for others gaining deeper understanding of themselves through Ayurveda (Ayur, Life and Veda, Science) or Yogic Philosophy."
After completing practicum hours and study hours for her IAYT Certification, Rochelle turned her primary focus to Yoga Therapy for Mood Management and Mental Health. Working specifically with individuals with ACEs scores (Adverse Childhood Events) she created a protocol for individuals to work through the effects trauma has had on their daily lives. Helping them to reconnect with their own sense of empowerment and worthiness.
"What I found out...was that everyone of us is special and worthy, everyone of us deserving of love and care... it doesn't matter what age we start rebuilding our wholeness and finding our balance within, it only matters that we start."
Many of Rochelle's clients had complaints about life just being too hard, that others seem to have it all figured out but not them. They sensed something was wrong but clinically there isn't a word for it, they are told they are healthy, but felt anything but. Rochelle empathized with her clients because she too had felt exactly that way. Through her dedicated practice and education she discovered she could maintain a sense of peace in her life, and by addressing imbalanced living reduce pain and even find contentment, just as she is.
